In this Dateline investigation from August 2003, reporter Victoria Corderi demonstrates the remarkable difference in flammability of untreated packing foam versus foam covered in spray paint.
Survivors Julie Mellini, George Solitro, Tammy St. Hilaire and Michelle Spence are interviewed. Two other survivors I can ID are Adam Florio at 33 seconds (leaning against car) and Melanie Fontaine at 12:26 (sitting in restaurant booth.)
Part of Jeff Derderian's notorious "Burning Beds" report is shown in which he explains that eggcrate mattress foam is "solid gasoline." He had been a TV news reporter for several years until the fire.
