A video of the late legendary tabla maestro of the Punjab Gharana, Ustad Bhulli Khan (1945-2004) performing a tabla solo in the 16 beat rhythm cycle Teentaal at a baithak in Karachi in 1994. This performance also included a number of senior musicians in attendance.
Bhulli Khansaheb is regarded amongst the iconictabla players from Pakistan associated with the Punjab Gharana, having been trained by Ustad Ghulam Hussain Khan of Jullandhar, who was a senior disciple of Ustad Mian Qadir Bukhsh, Ustad Mian Karam Ilahi and Ustad Allahditta Biharipuriya. Bhulli Khan was considerd amongst the most fastest or taiyyar tabla players of his time, his speciality over 'Na Dhin Dhin Na' and 'Dhire Dhire' won him special praise.
The ustad passed away in 2004 leaving a long line of fans and disciples. His disciples carrying forward his legacy include his sons, Mazhar Hussain, Asad Ali, Rahat Ali and Arshad Ali, nephew Saleem Khan, Mukhtar Hussain Kalu Khan, Kamran Serosh, Razaq Nawaz and Saqib Razaq.
