Granola is one of my favorite breakfast cereals and this Homemade Granola is so much better than store bought. I love the versatility of granola and the fact that when you make it at home you can control the amount of sugar. There is such a wide variety of add ins like nuts, seeds, and dried fruit. And there is also many flavors to choose like vanilla, honey, or maple.
Healthy Fruit and Nut Granola
Ingredients
4 cups old fashioned oats
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1/4 cup chopped pecans
2 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp flax seeds
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
1/2 cup honey
Instructions
In a large bowl combine all the dry ingredients. In a separate small bowl combine the honey, coconut oil, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour honey mixture over the oat mixture and stir until everything is coated. Spread out onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 20 minutes, remove from oven, stir, and bake for an additional 15 minutes. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Peanut Butter Granola
Ingredients
5 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
1/2 cup honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
In a small bowl combine peanut butter, honey, and vanilla. Heat in the microwave for one minute. Stir until smooth. Pour over oats and stir until all coated. Spread out onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 20 minutes, remove from oven, stir, and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
Banana Nut Granola
Ingredients
4 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chopped banana chips
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
In a large bowl combine oats and walnuts. In a separate bowl mix together honey, oil, and vanilla. Pour over oats and nuts. Stir until everything is coated. Spread out onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake in a 325 degree oven for 20 minutes, remove from oven, stir in banana chips, and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
