The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also warned that every sin leaves a mark on the heart. If a believer repents, the mark disappears. But if the sins continue, those marks grow until they cover the heart completely. This is the spiritual rust described in Surah Al-Mutaffifin (83:14).

Taharah in Islam also extends beyond the body and the heart. It includes the purity of places.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught that cleaning the mosque, removing harm from roads, and protecting public spaces are acts of charity. Islam built an entire civilization around cleanliness, hygiene, and respect for the human body centuries before these ideas became common in the modern world.

Public bathhouses, sanitation systems, and detailed hygiene laws were already widespread in the Muslim world more than a thousand years ago — all rooted in the divine concept of Taharah.

And the reward for maintaining purity is immense.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Islam is clean, so be clean, for only the clean will enter Paradise.”
— Sahih Muslim

This means Taharah is not just about today. It is preparation for Jannah, the eternal Garden of Paradise where believers will live in perfect purity forever.
