Hiking the Mt. Whitney Trail to Lone Pine Lake!

Описание: Lone Pine Lake sits about 2.8 miles above the Mt whitney Portal where the trail begins. From Lone Pine, CA we drove up Whitney Portal Road for about 11.5 miles until we reached the dead-end where the parking lot, picnic area and trailhead are located. The trail to Lone Pine Lake uses the same trailhead as those hiking to Mt Whitney Summit. The hike is about 6.5 miles round trip and considered to be moderately difficult. We hiked a total of 8 moles oncluding some wandering. Lone Pine Lake is a pristine mountain alpine lake which makes for an excellent place to enjoy lunch and enjoy the scenic views of the peaks in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. We started our hike at 9.30am and returned through the Whitney Portal at 2.45pm (5 hours and 15 minutes).
