The Florida Panthers can join the Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins as the third team in the NHL's salary cap era to repeat as Stanley Cup champions. They won three of the last four games over the Edmonton Oilers to take a 3-2 series lead, putting themselves where they can be the 8th team to get a Cup-clinching win on their home ice in consecutive years and first since the Oilers in 1987 and 1988. They're also trying to become the first team to eliminate the same opponent in the Finals in consecutive years since the Montreal Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins in 1977 and 1978. The Panthers have had trouble closing out series in the past two seasons, as they're 2-5 in their first attempts at doing so, including an 8-1 loss in Game 4 of last year's Final. Yet, when comparing the time led in this series, the Panthers have led for 200:25, compared to 33:51 for the Oilers, but the Oilers have led for just 6:04 in the past three games, all in the third period of Game 4. No team has overcome a 3-2 deficit in the Finals by winning Game 6 on the road and Game 7 at home since the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Calgary Flames in 2004. The Oilers are in this situation, as they need a win to send it back to Edmonton. They're switching back to Stuart Skinner in net after Calvin Pickard gave up four goals on 18 shots. Skinner was pulled and replaced by Pickard in each of his last two starts, including after allowing three goals on 17 shots in the first period of Game 4. In the final four games of last year's Finals, Skinner was 3-1 with a 1.76 GAA and a .935 save percentage. In addition, Kasperi Kapanen replaces Viktor Arvidsson in the lineup, and John Klingberg replaces Troy Stecher.
