In the first panel 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐟𝐚𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐮𝐟𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐧, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 (𝐁𝐌𝐁𝐅), stressed the importance of hydrogen for a successful transition in Germany, not least towards more energy sovereignty. He also explained current developments within the German National Hydrogen Strategy and spoke about the international partnerships for production, storage, transportation and export of green hydrogen.

In the second panel 𝐆𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐢 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡, 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫-𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 (𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐀) widened the debate by putting special focus on hydrogen’s geopolitical implications.

There is huge potential in green hydrogen as one of several energy sources on the way towards the reduction of CO2 emissions and climate change mitigation. Challenges of storage, transport and infrastructure, questions of local or regional hydrogen markets, and Swedish green steel production were just some of the topics that were touched upon during the conference.
