Listen to a conversation about HPV between health care experts, featuring:
Dr. Stacy De-Lin (she/her), Associate Medical Director, Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic
Giuseppina Caravella, MPH, MS, CHES (she/her), Health Education Specialist, Stony Brook Cancer Center
HPV, or the human papillomavirus, is a common virus. In fact, most people will come in contact with HPV at some point in their lifetime.
Most HPV infections aren’t harmful and go away on their own. But some kinds of HPV can lead to genital warts or certain types of cancer.
For HPV Awareness Day (March 4), Dr. De-Lin and Giuseppina discuss:
What is HPV?
How to screen for HPV (and the limitations of screening)
How to prevent HPV with the HPV vaccine, Gardasil
Common myths about the HPV vaccine, and why they recommend this cancer prevention vaccine
For more information about HPV, visit www.pphp.org/hpv.
Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic offers HPV vaccines and screenings at all health center locations. Visit pphp.org or call 800-230-PLAN to book an appointment.
