“Comfort, comfort My people, says your God.
Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned…”
(Isaiah 40:1–2)

In times of trouble for Israel, God calls for His people to be comforted.
To a nation familiar with pain and sorrow, comfort is promised — for the days of affliction are over. Their iniquity has been pardoned, through the life, death, and resurrection of the child who was born to us, the Son who was given to us — the Messiah.
This message of comfort reaches its glorious climax in verse 5:
“And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

About the Work: “Messiah”
“Messiah” is an oratorio by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1741. It is regarded as one of the most significant masterpieces in classical vocal music.
In Messiah, Handel presents the figure of the Messiah as described in the Scriptures — from the prophecies of His coming to the establishment of His eternal kingdom.
The majority of the text is taken from the Bible, primarily from the Book of Isaiah — as is the case in this Hebrew version.
Handel’s Messiah has been performed in Hebrew in its original classical version. In this project, we produced four key excerpts, each conveying a powerful and uplifting message — meant to encourage and instill hope in Israel and among the nations, according to God’s promises of the coming of the Messiah.
These excerpts are performed in a distinctive classical-modern style, designed to be both clear and enjoyable to every ear.
We are grateful to all who took part in this special production, and we pray that through these Scriptures — drawn from the Word of God — many will receive hope and comfort.
Above all, we thank God for His promises of the Messiah’s coming, for the child born to us, and for the great light we saw even in times of distress.
We thank God for the comfort He gives to His people, and we call upon ourselves and others:
Hallelujah!
