I absolutely think we should encourage the fall. Shielding our kids from falling isolates their creativity.
I was at a play room last month where a kid (not mine) saw me setting up to go down the slide head first and on my back. Mind you, I’m a 33 year old adult and this 4-year old dude says “Heyy you have to go down feet first!” I leaned up a little bit to get closer, said “says who?” And pushed off down the slide. Queue a gitty little giggle while he excitedly spun around to copy me. He had fun going down backwards.
