AE86 exhaust comparison. HKS Hi-Power vs Brave

Описание: Both are 60mm high quality Japanese-made exhausts.

My car is a mostly stock 16v bluetop 4AGE with 256 264 HKS camshafts, TRD 4-1 exhaust manifold/header and no cat (straight de-cat/test pipe).

I put a mic near the rear bumper with a GoPro 3 black, and a GoPro 3 Silver with its own mic next to the dash for inside and outside and inside sound comparison, respectively.

Brave feels like it gives power at all rpms. HKS only comes alive after 5k. Performance on the vid seems identical (car was at same temp, same day and stretch of road)...

As you can see at the end, there's no difference going through the gears, but since the Brave has more mid-range, it should feel better to drive on twisty roads.

I like the raw sound of the HKS better, and there's a slight raspy sound on the Brave that makes it sound a bit "ricey" in comparison. Brave is quieter and car vibrates less, which is nice. Inside, the difference is almost non-existent, except that the car seems to vibrate much less.

HKS is quite worn and Brave is new. I wonder how it'll change once the insulator on the silencer wears out.

I've compared the last part of the vid in slow motion and both accelerate exactly the same at high revs matching the vids from 2k in first (no wheelspin or clutch slip) to 60mph. So the Brave must be more efficient at lower revs, which is nice for touge and daily driving. I wonder if the HKS can get more peak power with a more built engine, though...
