The story revolves around Dharam Singh (Sanjeev Kumar), an honest farmer living with his sister Bela (Farida Jalal) in rural India. One day, they witness committed by Thakur Arjun Singh's (Shatrughan Sinha) brother. They report the crime to the police, leading to the arrest and sentencing. To escape the wrath of Thakur Arjun Singh, Dharam relocates to the city to earn a living and support his sister's marriage. Thakur Arjun Singh retaliates by setting Dharam's house on fire and abducting Bela, but she manages to escape and searches for her brother in the city.When Bela finds Dharam, he is in the company of a wealthy woman, Barkha Singh (Raakhee). Dharam, now impersonating another man, refuses to recognize Bela and distances himself from her. The film explores themes of family, sacrifice, and justice as Dharam and Bela navigate their challenging circumstances.
