When assessing roundabouts, you should take in as much information as possible in advance of getting to the location. By the time you have got there, all the signs and road markings which can help you are behind you (no help there!), so it's really important to take everything in before you go past them. How can you do that?
At roundabouts, if you do not see any signs or road markings, or you just see simple destination signs, the probability is that the roundabout follows the standard rules in the Highway Code. The more signs and road markings you see, this is an indication the roundabout is likely to be non-standard, and so you will need to think more and take extra care.
Roundabouts with a standard sign ONLY, with a symmetrical appearance like a clock face, and three options of left turn (9 O'clock), right turn (3 O'clock) and ahead (12 O'clock) usually implies the roundabout is standard. Any other main sign, watch for additional signs and road markings because the roundabout is almost certainly non-standard.
This roundabout is non-standard, there are plenty of extra signs and road markings on approach, and the lines, kerbs an bollards give extra guidance and support to you as you travel around the roundabout.
