Messi Fails To Report As Barcelona Players Return For Pre-Season Covid-19 Testing

Описание: Lionel Messi was a notable absentee as Barcelona players returned to the club's training base on Sunday for pre-season Covid-19 testing.

Messi's decision to not undergo tests means he won't be joining the team for its first pre-season training session under new coach Ronald Koeman on Monday.

After almost two decades at the club, Messi informed Barcelona last Tuesday that he wants to leave the club after a rare trophy-less season ended with a humiliating defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The club has hinted that a legal battle could be coming though, stating that it won't automatically grant the Argentine great his wish.

Barcelona said the document sent by Messi referenced a clause that would allow him to leave for free at the end of the season.

However, the club said the deadline for triggering the clause expired in June and that it will seek legal advice.
