Who Was Gene Watson AKA Gino Antonio Vescio?
Gene Watson was adopted as a child from Italy.
His Italian name was Gino Vescio who became orphaned in South Italy
He spent his childhood in America during the golden era of science fiction influenced by movies like Forbidden Planet were cited it as a major influence on him trying to build a flying saucer
Gene Watson had a modern view of the world. He believed we had to become space faring in order to evolve like on Star Trek.
He believed the terrestrial world was very savage, war-like, and primitive.
His first flying saucer was made as a child using and engine for model airplanes that he mail ordered. Money was made by delivering newspapers on his bicycle.
He moved out of the house when he turned 18 but dropped out of college and joined the military for two years before being discharged.
In the military he tested for a very high IQ and was a natural at math. He was taken with setting up communication equipment in Germany. This was during the Cold War and he claims the Russians were making him and other soldiers sick with a chemical agent.
During the late 1960s he befriended a college professor named Dr. Bronco at Arkansas Polytechnic University. He used the schools lathe and calculations by a Wang computer system. According to Gene Watson the flying saucer flew and the FAA issued orders not to fly it over a certain amount of height.
I remember seeing a newspaper clipping as child in my parents scrapbook. It was a small one-manned saucer.
During the 1970s and 1980s he continued to delve into man-made flying saucers and also experimented with electric thrust.
He claimed to make a discovery in electric thrust by experimenting with a Van Der Graf generator.
When approaching NASA and aerospace companies he faced rejection.
He claimed his ideas and inventions were stolen. He suggested the idea of a laser printer when working for Xerox describing how it would work and it appeared on the market a year later after he was fired.
He resorted to dumpster diving in industrial parks for scrap metal and electronics for his inventions.
During the mid 1980s he became in trouble with the law while living in Wylie, Texas where the city claimed he was hoarding junk. He was also tapping electricity from the power line.
Gene Watson’s plan was to generate publicity and this would create interested and investment into man-made flying saucer. He saw it was a Wright Brother moment.
He later moved to Sachse, Texas on some remote land and tried building another flying saucer.
He would write letters to people and I remember seeing men in suits outside talking to him about his saucer.
Shortly thereafter he said there was an assassination attempt where a snipped shot at his tire forcing him off the road into a ditch. He also started receiving death threats.
Gene Watson claims he was also being blackballed from employment reduced to delivering pizzas.
Financial hardship caused my parents to divorce where my Dad fled to his birthplace Italy
In Italy his relatives helped him get a job as a welder for a crane company. He cities his time in America trying to build a saucer where he learned how to weld.
He claims to help his boss make structural improvements to the cranes but never got credit for it but he did eventually retire receiving a pension.
In Italy he did not try to make another man-made flying saucer but did continue to experiment with electric field and built his own equipment like a step-up transformer.
In 2012 I reconnected with my Dad and sent him an iPad where we communicated by E-Mail.
He said his lifter or Ionocraft were different than the ion Lifters people post to the internet.
He called it AC Ionic Wave.
I released his concepts and ideas in illustrated self-published books although never did make any money from them.
After I released self-published books, videos of his ion lifters, and promoted his sketches handing out photo copies in front of the United Nations building in New York he was banned from the local yard where he relied on material like electronics for his inventions.
Toward the end of his life he started to receive harassment, electronic communication interference on his iPad or denial of service, and more recently he claimed there were attempts on his life with cars aiming for his motorcycle landing him in the hospital requiring surgery.
One car that hit him put the car in reverse running over him again to try to finish him off.
This was during a time UAP threat gaslighting by the United States creating UAP Bureaucracy and congressional hearings.
On July 13, 2025, Gene Watson, living alone and in fear, dropped dead. It was determined he suffered from high blood pressure. His body was quickly cremated by relatives who wanted to save money. He was 80 year old.
