Smile - After Effects text-based animation

I used to sing, a lot, in what seems now to be a past life! So for this final project, I decided to use a song I recorded in 2009 at Studio Amadeus. The song is Smile, the music was written by Charles Chaplin for his movie Modern Times (1936) and the lyrics were written almost 20 years later by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons.
I’ve always loved Charles Chaplin and his alter ego Charlot, and can’t imagine anything else when I hear this song, so the choices I made for this After Effects animation were all related to the interest of Silent and Burlesque movies. The Black and White, the “old” filter and drawings of the iconic character.
First, I chose the part of the song that I wanted to use, and I edited it in Logic Pro X to make it sound old and to make sure that the cut I made couldn’t be heard.
Then, I did some drawings in Illustrator using a Wacom Graphic Tablet.
Finally, I chose the words I wanted to animate on After Effects and put everything together!
