Easy Homemade Meat Pie Recipe
Ingredients
For the pastry:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cold butter (cubed)
1/4 tsp salt
4–6 tbsp cold water
For the filling:
1 tbsp butter
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 small bell pepper, finely chopped
1 tsp minced ginger
1 tsp minced garlic
1 medium carrot, diced
1 ripe plantain, diced
1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1/2 tsp black pepper or chili powder (for heat)
Instructions
Prepare the Pastry
In a bowl, mix the flour and salt.
Add the cold butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to rub it into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Do not overwork.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
Make the Filling
Heat 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Sauté onions, bell peppers, ginger, and garlic until fragrant (about 2–3 minutes).
Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
Stir in roasted carrots and plantains. Cook for another 5 minutes
Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
Assemble the Meat Pies
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
