Following a successful community launch on Saturday 15 November, The Village Building Company and Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council are proud to announce that the highly anticipated South Jerrabomberra Town Park & Community Centre is now officially open.

The opening ceremony was welcomed an outstanding lineup of official guests and speakers, including:

Ms Esma Livermore – Deputy Mayor, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council

Together, these leaders joined the community to celebrate a historic milestone for South Jerrabomberra, marking the beginning of a new chapter for connection, recreation, and community life.

Spanning more than 2.5 hectares, the new Town Park has already captured the attention of families across the ACT and NSW. Featuring an incredible range of amenities, it is designed to be a go-to destination for play, relaxation and community events.

Highlights include:
The region’s largest free splash park.
A learn-to-ride track with realistic signage and traffic lights.
A large all-abilities playground with nature play elements.
Outdoor gym equipment.
A half basketball court.
BBQs and picnic shelters.
Shaded seating and landscaped lawns.
Toilet facilities and lighting for accessibility.
A spacious Village Green perfect for events and weekend gatherings.
This vibrant recreation precinct provides endless opportunities for families to enjoy the outdoors, cool off in summer, and spend quality time together.

Complementing the park is the brand-new South Jerrabomberra Community Centre, which is now open and accepting bookings. The centre offers:

Four flexible function rooms.
Two kitchens.
A dedicated bar area.
Modern facilities suited to workshops, meetings, celebrations, clubs, and community activities.
Bookings will be managed by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, with spaces available immediately.

Built with sustainability in mind, the centre features solar panels and on-site battery storage, powering both the centre and many of the park’s features — a testament to Village’s commitment to sustainable community development.

Saturday’s launch event brought hundreds of residents together for live entertainment, food stalls, kids’ activities, games, giveaways, and the official ribbon cutting.

Rob Fisher, Deputy CEO of The Village Building Company, described the park and community centre as:

“Spaces designed for connection, activity, and a genuine sense of belonging.”

Hon. Steve Whan MP highlighted the precinct as a destination for families across the region, while Mayor Kenrick Winchester praised the development as a beautiful, inclusive space that South Jerra residents will enjoy for many years to come.

The opening of the Town Park and Community Centre paves the way for the next major milestone — the South Jerrabomberra Town Centre, scheduled to commence construction in early 2026.

The planned Town Centre will include:

Community services.
A vibrant village-style atmosphere.
Set to open in 2027, it will become a lively lifestyle hub at the heart of the community.

The Town Park and Community Centre are now open and free for the community to enjoy.
