This is a solo hike from June this year 2025 when I van camped in the village of Dufton in Cumbria, My main objective was to walk up to High Cup a valley gouged out during the ice age.
I did three hikes on this trip including this one up Dufton Pike 481 metres; it was a circular walk of about 5 miles. The day I did this it was a fine day but the winds were pretty strong up to 30 mph. but I thoroughly enjoyed all of the day.

A history Lesson
Dufton Pike was formed from volcanic ash deposited in an ancient ocean around 450 million years ago. This volcanic material accumulated and solidified, later eroding in places to reveal the unique conical shape of the hill.
