Suggesting that rising terrorist attacks on Narendra Modi's watch have raised doubts about his management of terror, Congress said the Prime Minister should take all political parties into confidence on national security. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi expressed concern on the Udhampur attack, tweeting, "Days after the Gurdaspur attack, militant attack on a BSF convoy this morning is extremely worrying." AICC spokesman Randeep Surjewala said the NSA-level talks with Pakistan are scheduled to be held this month despite repeated attacks from across the border, stating that it flies in the face of Modi's claims that talks and terror could not go hand in hand. "Second big terror attack from Pakistan in 10 days, 20 ceasefire violations in July and a 26/11 Pakistani investigator's admission that Pakistan was behind Mumbai attacks, it is all on record now. We request the PM to review and rethink national security and sensitive border security," he said. The spokesman added the PM should talk to all parties and inform the country about his policy on fighting terror and Pakistan. "National security is the concern of 125 crore people of India," he said. Charging the Modi government with being "soft" on terror, the spokesman said the Centre had failed to evolve a well thought-out policy on dealing with Pakistan. "The policy is opaque and unable to tackle terror in appropriate manner," Surjewala alleged. Congress asked what was the meaning of a spurt in terror attacks after talks between two PMs (Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif) and the joint declaration at Ufa in Russia recently.
