A portion of National Highway 44 near Alipore has caved in, causing an accident involving an auto-rickshaw and leading to traffic diversions. The situation is critical as the Yamuna river is touching historic levels. According to reports, “this is the fifth time when Yamuna River has crossed 207 mark in the national capital and possibly the second highest water level is being touched by Yamuna River as we speak at this point in time.” The flooding has also inundated residential areas like Civil Lines, where bungalows, shops, and temples are submerged, raising concerns of electrocution from inundated power substations.
