The victor in Congo's four-month civil war, General Denis Sassou Nguesso, called on Friday (17/10) for reconciliation in his war-scarred country as his victorious troops celebrated his return to power. His troops this week seized control of the capital, Brazzaville, and Pointe Noire, the main oil city and the country's economic powerhouse, in a sudden end to four months of fighting. His forces are the country's new masters and they claim they are ready to take it into a free and democratic future.
