She explains how a CSAT focuses on the whole situation a person struggling with sex addiction may face. A Certified Sex Addiction Therapist works with both the person struggling with the addiction and their partner who is going to have a long, very personal recovery process when the addiction is revealed to them.

Jackie explains in this video how working with a CSAT can be a more positive experience for someone fighting the effects of sex addiction than other types of clinical counselors. CSATs are trained in trauma recovery, which affects the nervous system and causes addiction. If clients who are struggling with addiction do not properly treat their trauma, it can be impossible for them, or their partner to move forward.

A CSAT can help both the addict and their spouse to look and ask essential questions about what they want the future to look like. The couple can reclaim the sexual experience, both individually, and as a couple. They don’t have to continually live in that space of pain and betrayal any longer. Couples that work with CSATs can imagine a relationship, removed from the pain and trauma.
