What is Christmas to you?
Christmas is excitement.
It’s coming together after a long time.
It’s talking, laughing, singing, crying, dancing, disagreeing and hugging it out.
The lights, the Christmas carols.
It’s eating and drinking. Then eating and drinking some more.
Christmas is donning the bowtie that’s been in the box for a year.
It's deciding whether to wear a matching down jacket.
It’s having a gallery full of photos.
And a pantry full of sweets.
Each table and every story is different.
Turkey with papaya for Christmas dinner is not for everyone.
Neither is El Ganso: you love it or hate it.
But let’s keep hugging it out. And laughing and dancing and eating and drinking. Because at the end of the day, when we sit in our favourite chair,
It’s the excitement that makes us smile.
We may not be for everyone, but we are excitement. We are Christmas.
