Shelter Manager Terry Strickland reflects on the Sequim Warming Center and his role helping folks feel safe and find a path forward.
When temperatures drop to 36 degrees or below, the Sequim Warming Center opens its doors to provide a warm, safe place to sleep for anyone in need.
Operated by OlyCAP in partnership with St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and the Sequim Health and Housing Collaborative, the center offers overnight shelter from November 1 to May 1, including special openings on Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.
Located at 525 N 5th Ave in Sequim, the warming center operates from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM and welcomes guests with pets, as long as cats are crated and dogs are leashed.
Staff and volunteers are on site to ensure a safe, supportive environment for individuals and families seeking refuge from harsh winter conditions.
