Mabon, the Autumn Equinox, also known as the Witches' Thanksgiving, is a Harvest feast and a celebration of the Sun. Learn how to celebrate Mabon with a prayer and Equinox spells.

Mabon intentions have to do with gratitude, abundance and letting go. Witch rituals for the autumn can be done on or around the 21st day of the month. September in the Northern Hemisphere and March in the Southern Hemisphere.

Mabon Lore & the Meaning of Mabon:

Named after the Welsh God, "divine son of the divine mother". He was stolen from his mother and taken to the Underworld where he stayed a young man forever. Because of this, the Romans equated him with the god Apollo, symbol of youth and the Sun. We celebrate the sun going away as we enter the dark half of the year.

No matter how you choose to celebrate, the focus of this season is sacrifice, loss, and gentle regret, for the precious days of summer have passed as winter approaches.
