This includes our Yala National Park, block 2, off-road tour. We went there in December and at that time we were having heavy rains. No matter how ever we have arranged three 4*4 jeeps. Land cruiser, Hilux & Navara. Also, we are having 11 best buddies (mud gang). It is a 3-night journey inside the jungle.
We booked 2 camping sites Meegas Sewana and Kosgas Mankada situated inside the national park, but we had to stay one night on the roadside in the jungle and 2 nights at Warahana campsite. Due to the heavy flood conditions.

1st day we started the journey in the early morning at 12.00am and close to the Bundala National Park at 6.30am. The guide said it is difficult to go inside due to the flood conditions. But we prepared for that, and then we went on the lagoon road fully covered with water. some roads flooded for 500 meters to 750 meters with one side a lake and the other side a lagoon. It is an unbelievable experience. However we reached our main point YALA at 2.00pm, actually, the disaster started at that time. 😉 Every guide said you couldn't enter Block 2 due to the flood conditions, how ever got permission, and one of our friends Mr. HARSHA (guide at the park) has to come with us to guide us! due to these reasons and tired we have to stay at Warahana campsite for 1st night.

2nd day at 7.30am we started our journey, it has been nonstop raining from last night, and the road is normally good but now it is very bad (not worst) inside the first 30 minutes. we got a challenging task, and from that point, we had to get down and clear the roads time we had to check water levels. To move 1Km we have to spend more than 2 hours. 1st breakdown occurred when the Navara jeep`s 4*4 accel went wrong. Now it is near to 2.00pm, have to skip our lunch and keep moving suddenly the manual winch on the Land Cruiser caught fire and we have to think twice about moving forward. Meanwhile, the rain reaches its maximum, and water levels rise suddenly. The only option is to move quickly to the highest place on the route. Luckily we chose a god spot and we camped there, now it is about 6.00pm. It was a sleepless & very tired night.

3rd day in early morning around 6.30am we have to move backward, Due to bad weather forecast news, Coming back is not that easy as we think, Now the Hilux starter-moter is getting dead. After some time land cruiser`s Snorkel damaged, How ever around 7.00pm we came to the Warahana camp site. We had a good sleep on that night.

Finally, on the 4th day we back to Colombo safely. with lots of memories.
