Part 1 – Da Nang, Republic of Vietnam
Admiral R. L. Johnson, Commander U.S. Pacific Fleet, and Major General Lewis W. Walt dedicate the brand-new 300-bed U.S. Naval Station Hospital. The Third Marine Division band plays, ribbons are cut, and a vital new medical lifeline opens for American forces in I Corps.
Part 2 – Yankee Station, South China Sea
The same day aboard a Seventh Fleet attack carrier. Senator W. B. Brewster visits the flight deck as A-4 Skyhawks of VA-44 launch strike missions against North Vietnam, while A-3 Skywarriors and returning jets slam into the arresting gear in nonstop round-the-clock operations.
