About a Lost Star in the Night
[Scene: Inside a moving car]

Karen
The image reflected in the window is the face of an unfamiliar woman.
Yet, somehow, it feels familiar.
However, the face Karen remembers does not appear.

The face transforms into another woman’s.
With every passing streetlight,
with every street the car crosses,
the face changes—
but the one Karen remembers never appears.

Karen
(whispering)
Where is… my face?
The face I longed for one last time…
Who now possesses my face?

Karen’s face does not change only in appearance.
It is the face shaped by what she is thinking in that moment,
and ultimately, the face she most deeply longed for in her previous life.

Karen
(with quiet determination)
I want to know…

The car moves along a road that stretches endlessly into the darkness.
A star vanishes from the night sky.
The faces continue to change,
but the thirst within Karen grows ever clearer.

Who Knows
[Scene: A marketplace]

The noise of the market—voices of people, the sound of footsteps.
Karen walks through the crowd. Suddenly, a child grabs her hand.

Mom!

Karen freezes for a moment. Her gaze wavers.

Karen
(internally, to herself)
…Mom?

She steadies her breath and looks at the child.
A moment of realization passes across her face.

Karen
(internally, softly)
In my life… I never had a mother.
Then…
whose face was it that I longed for?
And the face I am wearing now…
whose is it?

In that moment, Karen comes face to face with the true owner of the face.
At last, every clue falls into place, and Karen hurriedly changes her face.

(As her face changes, the child lets go of her hand.)

Karen silently watches the child and the mother walk away.

Promise on The Bridge
[Scene: A sports car speeding along the coast]

Was the person I loved so deeply… truly my sister?

Amid countless questions, Karen recalls the promise she once made
with her sister on an overpass.

Karen
(anxious, unsettled)
What kind of promise did we make…
It must never have been fulfilled…

(Disappointed, pressing her lips together in emptiness)
She went looking for the overpass, but even its traces were gone.
The widened road had swallowed it whole,
and the sharp roar of traffic pressed down on Karen even more heavily.

(Growing impatient and suffocated)
Even after searching for similar overpasses,
not a single clue came to mind.
