Barn Owl Babies Re-Nested + Reunited w/ Parents! 🙌

This clutch of seven nestling Barn Owls were brought to the Ojai Raptor Center after an old, hollow, concrete pillar they were nesting inside was destroyed during construction. After ORC hospital staff determined they were all healthy, and fed the clutch a meal, they reached out to tree climber, owl habitat technician, and barn owl box installer extraordinaire Wes Jones, who volunteered his services to install one of our Barn Owl nest boxes in a nearby tree on the same property, where the owls were found. With the cooperation of the property manager, ORC staff then placed the owlets into the box, as seen here. We received the good news the next morning from Wes that the mother was sighted inside the box with the babies not too long after.
We always prefer to leave young birds to be raised with their parents whenever possible, and we’re so glad this reunification was a success!
