Born in a remote village in Ladakh, Sonam Wangchuk struggled in school because he couldn’t understand the language being taught. Instead of giving up, he went on to study Mechanical Engineering at NIT Srinagar and later founded SECMOL, an innovative education movement focused on experiential learning and mother-tongue education.

His work later inspired discussions around education, sustainable innovation such as the Ice Stupa, and public advocacy on environmental and education-related issues. In recent years, he has also been in the news for public protests and hunger strikes on education and governance issues.

This is the inspiring journey of Sonam Wangchuk.
