In The Screwy Truant (1945), directed by Tex Avery, Screwy Squirrel skips school to go fishing, prompting truant officer Meathead Dog to chase him down. The cartoon is filled with slapstick humor and classic Tex Avery gags, culminating in a twist ending where Screwy reveals he has measles, much to Meathead's horror. This short also features a cameo by Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, characters from Avery's later work Swing Shift Cinderella.
