“Like every year, this year too, arrangements have been made for Muslims to break their fast. We make around 450 dishes every day. Around 1600 people break their fast here. The money for this is contributed by the well-off people of the area.”

STORYLINE:
Thousands of Pakistani Muslims broke their fast on Thursday evening at local mosques in Karachi, celebrating the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

“Like every year, this year too, arrangements have been made for Muslims to break their fast,” said Syed Ali, administrator at a mosque.

“We make around 450 dishes every day. Around 1600 people break their fast here. The money for this is contributed by the well-off people of the area,” he added.

Before sunset, people flocked to shops to buy food especially prepared for Ramadan.
