When I went on maternity leave in April 2025, AI still felt like a toy. Developers were experimenting with it, but most of us didn’t really rely on it for real work.
Six months later, when I came back to work, everything had changed.
Suddenly everyone was using AI tools—Cursor, Claude agents, and different coding assistants. And I realized something shocking: most of my coding is now done by AI. I barely type code anymore. Most of the time I just describe what I want, guide it a little, and AI generates the rest.
As a software engineer and a mom of two kids, this change gave me a lot of AI anxiety. The career roadmap I used to have suddenly feels unclear.
