In this video, I replace the CMOS battery in a worthless old netbook... Actually, I remove the old battery, solder a standard CR2032 holder to the wires, bodge it in to the machine and put it all back together.
I found it fun and it didn't take me too long; it's something you could do yourself if you have a it of spare time or perhaps you could put the techniques shown to use elsewhere.
