PINKSLIME - 2015

Описание: A brief collection of "unreleased" songs from Oakland's PinkSlime, in the sense that these tracks never found their way outside of the group's Bandcamp page after the group's indefinite hiatus in 2015. While I initially wasn't particularly stoked on this EP -- at least not nearly as much as I was on band's preceding material, specifically the mellow, lo-fi psych-like sounds of the "Harmony" EP --, it wasn't long before I had formed a bit of a soft spot for these light, synth-infused melodies. Making nods towards their prior experimentation with surfy, garage-tinged sounds, even the aforementioned noise-ladened psych of "Harmony" in the latter two tracks, PinkSlime does a fantastic job ushering in a set of alloyed synth tones and electronic chirps into the mix, and personally, I find that they compliment the preexisting drumbeats, sparse guitar work, and emotive vocal performances remarkably well. It's a damn shame we've yet, and potentially never will, hear some sort of follow-up on this group's newfound direction, because you can consider me a big fan. "Soft Talk" is somethin' to be cherished.
