This is the true story of Timoteo Mendieta Alcalá, a Spanish union organizer executed in Guadalajara in 1939 during the early months of Franco’s dictatorship. After his arrest and execution, his family was never given his body or a burial location. For decades, official cemetery records pointed to the wrong grave, leaving his daughter Ascensión Mendieta without a place to mourn. Nearly eighty years later, an international legal effort and forensic excavation finally revealed the truth.
