SOUTH AFRICA HAS GOT SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS. Often these problems are deep-rooted. Since the British and Dutch Colonial times, RACISM HAS BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE IN SOUTH AFRICA till date. Since 1948, upon the BEGINNING OF THE APARTHEID REGIME, this problem of RACISM HAD PEAKED. BLACK PEOPLE WERE NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE, even they were forbidden to participate in sports. SOUTH AFRICAN SPORTS TEAMS ONLY HAD WHITE PLAYERS and they didn't play with any teams who had coloured players. As TYRANNY AGAINST NATIVE AFRICAN BLACK PEOPLE INCREASE OVER TIME, Western Countries imposed multiple sanctions on the country and ICC HAD BANNED SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKET TEAM. SOON, their RUGBY TEAM, THE SPRINGBOOKS WAS BANNED, FOLLOWED BY GETTING BANNED FROM OLYMPICS TOO. However, after 22 years, at the END OF THE APARTHEID REGIME, the bans were lifted. But, even after 32 years have passed on, the politics is still relevant in sports but this is, it is somewhat different, the pendulum is, in fact, swinging towards the native African people. THE In 2016, SOUTH AFRICAN SPORTS MINISTRY HAD INTRODUCED QUOTA SYSTEM IN FAVOUR OF BLACK AND COLOURED PEOPLE to encourage more black people into sports. But, this system has actually costed the cricket team in bigger stages. Did you know that, WHY CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA'S GOLDEN GENERATIONS FAILED TO WIN A TROPHY or WHY AB DE VILLIERS DID NOT WIN A SINGLE TROPHY IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER (HE IS THE GREATEST UNLUCKIEST CRICKETER EVER)? I'll give you a hint: QUOTA SYSTEM IN CRICKET DID HAVE A ROLE IN THAT. Moreover, after the PANDEMIC HIT, SOUTH AFRICA'S ECONOMY GOT COMPLETELY BROKEN & CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA HAS FACED MASSIVE LOSSES. Their DOMESTIC T20 LEAGUE FAILED, and this time a familiar saviour emerged - GRAEME SMITH, who is THE MOST SUCCESSFUL TEST CAPTAIN EVER, came up with a new tournament - SA20 LEAGUE.
