For professional triathlete Heather Jackson, the road to Kona starts now.
This past January, Herbalife spent a week with Heather in her hometown of Bend, Oregon, documenting her perceived ‘off-season’ while gearing up for the 2017 race circuit: the culmination being the IRONMAN World Championships in Kona.
In the dead of winter, we followed Jackson’s training, from way before sun up to way after sundown, in the remote Oregon mountain town she calls home. The harsh and unrelenting winter environment Heather chooses to train in is an obvious juxtaposition to the tropical Hawaiian Islands challenging her mental and physical stamina day after day.
Some may think she’s crazy. Sometimes, Heather may even think she’s crazy. But ultimately it takes a little bit of crazy, a whole lot of sacrifice and continued dedication to her routine that makes the difference come race day. Winning the world championship may be this year’s goal, but there is still a long road to get there.
