Grasmere Common: A 6 Wainwright Hike

Описание: A brilliant but challenging circular route through all six of the Wainwrights around Grasmere Common, starting and ending at YHA Butharlyp Howe. The Wainwrights in the route being Silver How, Blea Rigg, Tarn Crag, Calf Crag, Gibson Knott and Helm Crag.

A particular highlight being the views of Grasmere and Rydal Water from the summit of Silver How. The start of the route to Blea Rigg is a genuine contender for one of my top 5 hikes!

One point to note is the route from Tarn Crag to Calf Crag is 90% pathless and therefore plenty of potential for error, particularly in poor visibility. Finally, this route would be much more suited to the summer months with longer daylight hours, as mentioned the final three Wainwrights were very much a rushed job to avoid still being on the tops when darkness fell.
