Developed by Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), AMICA is an innovative asphalt designed for high performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability. By replacing fine aggregates with coal bottom ash and partially substituting cement with fly ash, AMICA converts power plant by-products into durable road materials while reducing landfill waste and preserving natural aggregates.

Unlike conventional asphalt, AMICA uses low-temperature mixing (140°C) and compaction (125°C), lowering fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Laboratory tests identified 20% coal bottom ash as the optimal mix, delivering excellent durability, deformation resistance, and fatigue performance.
