The Annexe in Hartlepool is unlocking community power by providing a community space that has multiple uses and multiple purposes which protect people from hardship, all of which are shaped by the needs of the local community. It is a place where people can walk in and have their immediate needs met when they are in crisis.
It is a place that can provide connection to the community and links to opportunities whether that’s activities, friendships, volunteering, wider support, or job opportunities.
Whilst the Government needs to act to address the root causes of hardship, it must also act to unlock the potential of communities to protect people from hardship.
