Why do Palestinians fight? How do they fight? These questions are explored in this enhanced clip from a university panel discussion, recorded in November, 2023, on the traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən, Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples (Victoria, BC, Canada).
From the time of British colonial rule in the early 20th century to the establishment of Israel in 1948, and under ongoing military occupation and land annexation, Palestinians have been displaced and denied their right of self-determination. For over a century, they have waged popular resistance, including steadfastness and land defence, protests and demonstrations, noncooperation and civil disobedience, and armed resistance.
