Is your home a place of stress or a sanctuary? If you are exhausted by the ‘after-school collapse’ and feel like traditional parenting advice isn't working, this video is your permission to stop trying harder and start trying different.
In this video, I’m sharing 3 gentle, science-backed ways to move from them having a meltdown the moment they come home from school, to having a safe place to reset to a place of calm.
As a Sensory Friendly Interior Designer, I’ve helped countless neurodiverse families with kids that are HSP, adhd, autistic, and aduhd- transform their homes to support the neurodiverse nervous system. This isn't just parenting advice-we aren't trying to ‘fix’ the behavior; we are changing the environment so your child, and you can finally relax.
1.The ‘No Demand’ Rule: When they walk through the door, stop the questions. Let them release the ‘mask’ in their safe space. Neurodiverse kids can also have PDA or ODD which means it’s helpful to use different language or visual cues.
2.Environmental Overload: Learn how to spot sensory overload riggers like the air fryer pinging or washing machine humming that can overwhelm their nervous system and trigger meltdowns.
3.The Reset Zone: Why their environment is so important and how making quiet time and a space with a beanbag, a weighted blanket, and low lighting or fairy lights decor and some white noise can act as a physical ‘reset button’ for an exhausted brain.
