Zagg Glass Elite Review - Is it actually STRONGER?

Описание: This is technically Zagg’s toughest glass. That what it says on the box and if it’s on the box, it must be true right? I think Zagg moved from using the Glass+ lineup over the last year and is now running everything under the Glass Elite name.

I say it’s technically the toughest glass that Zagg has because the box says it uses AluminoSilicate glass BUT that’s the same glass they use in the Defender and that was a lackluster product.

So how tough is it actually? That’s what I’m going to find out in this video. And I’ve got a treat for you guys...I finally finished Wilma, my edge testing unit.

Now you might be wondering why am I testing the edge...because the edge of a screen protector is almost never as strong as the center of it. For example, in my Tech 21 Remix In Motion review, where did all the cracks happen? Along the edges. And that makes sense because all these glass need to be cut, formed or polished. Companies that cheapen the entire process will result in glass whose edges will break more frequently.

This is the last piece in the trifecta of screen protector. Scratch, Impact and Edge strength! BOOM!

So in the next few minutes, I’m going to talk about the features of the product, do the impact test, do the edge test and then compare the results against similar products from Belkin and Otterbox.

When it comes to coverage, the Zagg Glass Elite extends slightly pass the viewable area. The gap between the case edge and case is going to be larger on the iPhone 11’s than the Pro’s because of the extra thickness.

The edges of this screen protector aren’t terribly noticeable but are still there and if you’re looking for it, will be felt every time you swipe up to unlock or gesture on your device.

I had no issues with the adhesive on my screen protector, even after peeling back the protector several times while removing all the dust that got in during my install.

Now I do appreciate Zagg’s installation process as the frame + tabs makes it dummy proof. And that’s rare for me to say about Zagg’s products as they’re generally underwhelming. With the mild exception of Zagg’s iPad Pro case.

The oleophobic coating didn’t feel anything special even though part of Zagg’s marketing fluff includes a Trademarked name called Clear Print. After 4 weeks of usage, fingerprints still show up on my screen.

The clarity from my perspective is no different than your typical screen protector as it will add change the contrast of your screen a unnoticeably amount.

I didn’t come across any issues with sensitivity even along the edges.

When it comes to scratch protection, as I showed in my video “why camera protectors are stupid”, the Zagg Elite scratched at a medium-hard 7 which was surprising to me. Cheaper screen protectors will scratch around 6 so getting a 7 is excellent!

So how about impact? The old Glass+ claimed to have 3X the shatter protection whereas the Elite’s have 4X. Now here’s a neat little tidbit of information. The 4X is against traditional glass screen protectors. On the Glass+, it’s 3X the impact protection against an unprotected screen. I’m quite certain that the glass that Apple uses on their iPhone’s is going to be of the best quality so claiming to have MORE impact protection on lesser glass is an AMAZING piece of marketing fluff.
