RVA Baroque is Richmond, Virginia's community Baroque ensemble. We joyfully collaborate with other local cultural institutions. In September 2025, we joined the Richmond Public Library to build a program around the main building's magnificent stone atrium built in 1930. We used the full space -- hallways, upstairs gallery, stairwell, and adjoining rooms -- to showcase music with unusual spatial and acoustic effects.
After a verse introduction to sound the themes, the concert began with a medley of movements by composer Heinrich I. F. Biber (1644-1704), which collectively present a day in the life of Kromeriz, the Bohemian town where Biber was born.
