"I'm in northern Israel on the border with Lebanon. You can see behind me that those towns are both Lebanese and Israeli towns pretty much beside each other. And we have been hearing these interceptions and these drones coming pretty much constantly for the hour and a bit that we've been here with the army."

"Now the army has said here that they are going to do what it takes to defend the communities. That they're refusing to evacuate Israelis from villages here. They have put soldiers in front of the villages in order to protect them from Hezbollah. They're going to advance further into Lebanon and that this could take weeks or even months. There is this double threat here in the north. You have these missiles coming in from Iran and you have these drones as well as missiles coming from Hezbollah. And so the army is saying that it is doing everything it can to try and give people in these villages some semblance of security, even though there is constant incoming."

STORYLINE:
Israeli forces are reinforcing communities along the northern border as missiles and drones continue to be launched from Lebanon, according to The Associated Press's Sam Mednick.
Hezbollah entered the conflict days after joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, saying it was retaliating for the killing of Iran’s supreme leader.
The Israeli army says it will not evacuate villages near the border and has deployed troops to defend them, according to Mednick.
They have warned operations in Lebanon could last weeks or months, Mednick explains.
Residents here face what Mednick says is a "double threat," with incoming missiles from Iran and drones and rockets fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon.
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday appeared to rule out talks with Iran absent its “unconditional surrender.”
Israeli warplanes bombed Beirut and Tehran as Iran launched more retaliatory strikes against Israel and Gulf countries on the seventh day of the war.
