I make a longbow from a stave of white oak, only using handtools (sort of..) I always liked making bows since I was a little kid. Several years ago I came across http://poorfolkbows.com/oak.htm , he had a tutorial on a longbow from a stave of red oak with a backing made from several layers of drywall tape. I like that DIY aproach. Now I finally make that bow.
