The 2025 Dewi Padraig Ireland Wales Lecture - Out in the World

Описание: Brought to you by the Consulate General of Ireland, Cardiff, The Annual Dewi Padraig Lecture explores the history and stories of the Irish and Welsh LGBT diaspora communities.

In 2025, the Lecture was delivered as a panel discussion moderated by Rev. Delyth Liddell, Methodist priest and host of ‘All Things Considered’ on BBC Radio Wales.

The speakers were BAFTA-winning writer of ‘Lost Boys and Fairies’ Dr Daf James, leading historian of the Irish Civil War and Irish LGBT history Dr Mary McAuliffe, and author ‘A Little Gay History of Wales’ Dr Daryl Leeworthy.

With an introduction by Denise McQuade, Consul General of Ireland, Cardiff, and Fred Till, Public Diplomacy Officer at the Consulate General of Ireland, Cardiff.

The event was inspired by the exhibition ‘Out in the World: Ireland’s LGBTQ+ Diaspora’, created by ‪@EPICTheIrishEmigrationMuseum‬ with support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Pop-ups from the travelling exhibition were on display at the event, which took place in Cardiff’s iconic Wales Millennium Centre.
