This Japan travel vlog exposes why the Eight Seas of Oshino, one of Mount Fuji’s most popular villages, felt more like a tourist trap than a hidden gem.

I came to Oshino Hakkai, also known as the Eight Seas of Oshino, expecting a quiet, traditional village with crystal-clear spring ponds and classic views of Mount Fuji.

What I found instead?
Tour buses. Massive crowds. Packed food courts. And zero peace.

It quickly became my worst stop near Mount Fuji — and one of my biggest travel regrets in Japan.

But this day didn’t end there.

After leaving the chaos, I accidentally stumbled into one of the most authentic Japanese meals I’ve had anywhere in Japan, followed by a small family-run sake brewery hidden deep in a quiet neighborhood. No tour buses. No influencers. Just locals, tradition, and real Japanese culture.

This Mount Fuji vlog goes from total disappointment to complete redemption, and it nearly ended with me missing the last bus back to Tokyo. Miss it… and I’m stuck.
